Our monthly PCBA meeting will be held on Thursday ~ July 28th at 6pm at Dysart’s on Broadway.
At this month’s meeting:
*Thalassa Raasch will be doing a talk about beekeeping photography. Thalassa is a French American artist, educator, and beekeeper based in Iowa and Maine. Thalassa is currently an Assistant Professor of Photography and Experimental Media at the University of Iowa. She also currently serves on the executive board of the Maine State Beekeepers Association and is the assistant state apiarist. Thalassa started beekeeping as a teenager in Minnesota and was hooked. Thalassa is happy to share her passion for honey bees and believes in making the mysteries of the beehive accessible to anyone who is curious to learn more. Photographs ground their work and are often accompanied by audio, projections, or other materials. You can visit their website to learn more: Beekeeping Services | Keepers | Maine (bkeepers.me)
*We will also welcome a small crew from the CBS News Sunday Morning show. They will be highlighting the importance of educating the next generation of Americans on the importance of honey bees and inspire them to take part in the preservation of honey bees. CBS staff will respect an established camera free zone for those that prefer an off-camera experience.
*As always, there will be a general Q & A Session.
We will also have an open Q&A for members to ask any questions. Please let us know if there are any topics or questions you would like discussed!
We have several new members that would like to be matched with a mentor, so if you are interested in being a mentor – please let us know! Sometimes, it’s even just nice to bounce ideas back~n~forth with someone!
